can i add more sand/rock to it if i already in the cycle

If your tank is cycling at the moment than yes it would be fine to add more sand and live rock.

just added a 7.5 pd rock. see i have a 55 gallon acrylic tank but limited funds b/c of xmas. when is it during the cycle of after the cycle can i put more live rocks or not?

I learned, after using this site, that is better to add all the live rock at once, during the cycling process.

If you use CURED LR then adding after the cycle is fine, if you have lr that is not cured then adding can cause a mini cycle with any die off. So its best to add all the lr at once. You can cure the lr in another tank or tub and then add after its cured.
