If I had a s/w 10 gal tank could I have 2 common clowns in there and a crab ?

Not really. Try looking on Nano-reef.com for tank and fish suggestions.

Saltwater guideline is normally 1/2" per 5g of fish. With a 10g you'd be looking for maybe a shrimp/goby pair, crab/snails, and if you're on top of your game maybe some easy corals. You could get one clown and an anemone if your lighting was up to standard for the particular anemone that you choose AND you pick a small clown (that will stay small).

Good luck. I think a nano would be a lot of fun (and a lot of work).

Look at the 12gal JBJ Nano. They are really nice tanks, and if you go with the DX model you have 48 watts of CF lighting to work with!

AS suggested www.nano-reef.com has some really good info. for smaller tanks! Check it out.

I know several people who keep 3 fish in their nano reef, usually a pair of clowns and a firefish, and their tanks look great. I wouldn't suggest putting that many in right away, but if you kept on top of water changes and and kept your nitrates down, you could do it later when your tank is mature enough.
