I had a ten gallon reef tank with a clown for about 8 years with only a HOB filter and 2 small powerheads. One would be fine. It worked very well. The heater depends on where you live. In a cold area or if your room ever gets really cold a 75 watt heater would be great otherwise a 50 watt is fine. Just remember, lights is what you'll want to spend money on. For moderate light I'd look at a Finnex Ray 2. It'll support soft corals and some LPSs. It's what I would get if I set up a new 10 gallon. Just about anything you'd want to keep in a small tank would do okay with it.

You light will be everything to your coral. You want to find the coral you may want to get and get the light for by them. Leds make sure you get the dimmable ones of you choose them.

If you want more than one clown make sure u buy them as a pair or they will fight and one will die. Frogspawn, toadstool, mushrooms, leathers, metallic green star polyp (my favorite), zoanthids. Those are all begineer corals. And prolly will be fine with t5s on a ten gallon. If you want sps lps clams u will want a better light mh or led make sure the size of you tank can hold them. Before I buy anything at a lfs I look on live aquaria to.see the requirements.

would I get by with a single t5 or a double. I was looking at a led light but it is like 450 lumens which I don't think is much
