Well here is a homemade stand I build for the gravity fed top off system...five gallon jug will set on top over the sump. This has encompassed everything I do...my wife has given up on me !! And thanks for all the replies about the API test kit...it has been ordered!

Thats an interesting idea for top off. I might have to look into something like that. I was thinking of an automatic top off that is used for swimming pools, but that looks like a much cheapier option.

Did you use the bowl trick? Place a bowl or plate in the tank on the sand and then pour in the water.

Alternatively, if you have the water in already you can put the sand in a rolled up flexible placemat and slide it right in.

For next time

I have a mix of many different saltwater fish amongst my tanks, but I love my Tangs most of all.

is your filtration up and running fully? I would run the tank as you would normally run it if it wasnt cloudy.
