Hey guys and gals....I have been lurking around this forum and asking a lot of questions.

After staining the tank, I finally got it into the house, got the plumbing done and filled it halfway with water. My live rock and sand will hopefully be here Thursday! Will update when the rock and sand get here.

Thanks y'all....I am going to buy a test kit on amazon. Would y'all recommend the API saltwater master test kit?

Yep, api saltwater master kit is what you need. As you go along you might need other test kits but API is a great place to start. :)

Great looking tank! Nice job with the stain. API is what I use as well.

Well here is a homemade stand I build for the gravity fed top off system...five gallon jug will set on top over the sump. This has encompassed everything I do...my wife has given up on me :)!! And thanks for all the replies about the API test kit...it has been ordered!

Thats an interesting idea for top off. I might have to look into something like that. I was thinking of an automatic top off that is used for swimming pools, but that looks like a much cheapier option.

Thanks guys...this is a really cheap way for an auto top of...it is gravity fed and will cost about $60.00 after its all said and done.

The dust storm...and I cleaned it...guess not very well :(

Did you use the bowl trick? Place a bowl or plate in the tank on the sand and then pour in the water. :)

Alternatively, if you have the water in already you can put the sand in a rolled up flexible placemat and slide it right in.

For next time ;-)

I have a pump in there to keep the water moving...should I take it out?

is your filtration up and running fully? I would run the tank as you would normally run it if it wasnt cloudy.

No I only have it half full till I get the rock set like I want...that way I dont need to go snorkeling!!
