10g build first timer

I'm thinking of starting a ten gallon fish only saltwater tank but I need to know what types of filtration I would need and if I would need a pro teen skimmer or not and what type of subtraite I should use

For a tank that size, a protein skimmer is not necessary. Also, the best type of substrate is sand!

I would only go with one fish for a 10 gallon unless it is a very small goby.

righty ho, but what about:
- lighting? anything diff from standard freshwater?
-a sump? how do u do a diy one?
- refugium? is it needed for that size?
- y no protein skimmer? can i get live rock in a 10g?
- sand? do i need live sand or will like play sand do?
