120 gal set-up considering. What are your thoughts?
I am considering buying a set up that is being advertised locally. It is a 120 [acronym:62b4b37007="Gallon"]gal[/acronym:62b4b37007] set up that the guy was accumulating but now has to sell so it has never been used.
* 120 [acronym:62b4b37007="Gallon"]gal[/acronym:62b4b37007] glass Oceanic Reef ready w/ dual overflows (48x24x24) * Redmond Reef EX240 refugium 30 [acronym:62b4b37007="Gallon"]gal[/acronym:62b4b37007] sump with 40 watt JBL lighting * Turbofloater 1000 w/ Ocean Runner [acronym:62b4b37007="power head or Measure of the concentration of hydrogen ions, depending on context"]PH[/acronym:62b4b37007] 2500 * Iwaki 3 RT pump* Cherry stand and canopy Does not include heater, lights or powerheads. Priced at $1,500. (Original cost of $3k.) Thoughts on this setup, anything you would suggest or steer me away from? Thoughts on price? I am a beginner with several small [acronym:62b4b37007="Freshwater"]FW[/acronym:62b4b37007] tanks but I have done a lot of research on [acronym:62b4b37007="Saltwater"]SW[/acronym:62b4b37007]. Thanks. |

I bought mine new and paid at least the 3k for it. I'd go for it, if it is all in immaculate condition. It isn't a super "deal" but it is good price for a really nice setup!

It's somewhat good.
It has most of the stuff you need all right there, good for a beginner. But personally I don't think it's good forit's price. I can go to petco, buy a 150 -180 gallon tank with everything you need for 1300. All you have to do it buy the little stuff. So from what ive seen I don't think it's a good deal.

Cherry Stands cost more the the pine and oak.. Do a search on the net and see how the prices match.. Cherry is sweet...

Try to lowball him for $1000. If it's got to go, he may go for it.
