To all,

Thanks again for all your feedback. The LR or not to LR question will have to be tabled for another day.

For now, I'd like to get my tank cycled. I have Ammonium chloride and Fritz Turbostart to accomplish this.

Couple questions:

1) Has anyone else used this method to cycle? If so, your opinions/techniques ?

2) One of the other posters (sorry forgot name) suggested I remove all the decorations out of the tank before I cycle to prevent it from getting covered in algae. Is this a general consensus and if so, is algae a given when cycling the tank?

Thanks for the help

Never used that method, I'd just throw a shrimp in there and let it decay.

You could take the decorations out but that's up to you.

Yes you will get algae. no way around that, sorry.

I would do the shrimp method.

I wouldn't worry about the diatoms (which come after the cycle) they will go away on their own.
