I have two tanks sitting in my basement now, just waiting to be filled. I've stuck mainly to freshwater for a while now and might want to try a reef tank sometime later this year. My question is which tank would be more suitable for a reef tank? The 20g long or the 40g corner pentagonal tank, which is taller than wide. Thoughts?

Display tank. A sump is a secondary tank usually below the DT. It houses your media, filters. A pump circulates the water back to your DT.

Take a look at the articles here on AA for more info.

Hmm, interesting, thanks. I've never seen that idea mentioned. Mostly a sw thing?

I've seen them in fresh systems as well. It's really a good way to hide your equipment and give your system more volume.
