3d background

I would like to put a 3d background in my tank my question is do I ave to completely drain it to apply it or just do a partial water change and glue the top of it any ideas ?

What if you made the background on something that was reef/saltwater safe? My LFS sells these kinds of backgrounds (not this brand but I'm sure it's the same material). Maybe you could find a sheet of what it's made of and create what it is you are wanting. That way you could take it out and scrub for easy clean up.
