ok so was on craigslist yesterday and noticed this awesome deal the i couldnt pass up. it was a 46 gallon tall tank with stand, light, wet dry filter with overflow and all plumbing, 2 penguin 200 hob filters and bunch of other lil stuff. I paid 160 bucks and the guy delivered it to my door. like i said deal i couldnt pass up. so he dropped it off today

so my plans for this tank will most likely be a very peaceful tank in order to get a few seahorses down the road. I want to paint the tank and the stand black to make it match the room its going in. so that will be the first step hopefully ill get a lil time tomorrow to get a coat done.

the wet dry filter i got with it is filled with bio-balls, and the overflow is kinds old but looks like with a few new parts it will work good. im excited to be able to do this tank from the ground up.

heres a few pictures

I love talls. It lets you get light loving and low light loving corals and everything in between :).

Once all established, Acropora, Montipora at the top, Fungia on the sandbed, Zoas/shrooms at the lower levels, and most anything in between. And don't forget the Euphyllia :p

I wish you the best of luck :)

hey thanks guys. ya i have big plans for this one. i look on the side if the wet/dry and there was still a price tag of 179.00 lol..... time to start the build tomorrow im excited!!!

Ok so here a lil update for u guys. i went to my garage today and ended up being there all day and going to home depot twice. lol after looking at the stand i got with the tank a lil more i satrted getting this vision of it not holding all that weight and putting 50 gallons of water all over the place so i decided to build a new one

thanks im surprise i get it all done today it was a long day and about 12 beers later im happy to be home sitting on the couch watching my new clown play in my other tank

oh now that the tank and stand is all done im now working on my 20 gallon sump/fuge. i have the configuration figured out now im trying to decide witch protein skimmer to go with my budget is short so i was looking on ebay and i found this was wondering if it was a good deal. what do u guys think?
Protein Skimmer Aquarium Marine Reef 50 - 75G w/ Pump | eBay

also i will be doing all my plumbing in pvc and want to paint it so it dosnt stand out is there a special kinda paint i need to use for my return and spray bar??

Definitely go for some chaeto in that refugium. Will save you a ton of money on GFO that's for sure, will virtually eliminate algae fuels. Also, provides shelter for pods if you ever plan on a mandarin or something of the sort ;)

GFO? sorry i dont know that abbreviation. i was planning on adding cheato and maybe some other kinds of micro algaes a deep sand bead and some lr aslo.
what do u think about that protein skimmer?

so today got some extra time at the shop and found some old plexiglass laying around and buily my sump what do u guys think? im pretty happy with it. i hope its air tight. no i cant wait till my glass-cage overflow gets here so i can drill the tank and start setting everything up :)
