80 gallon

What will it take to setup a 80 gallon freshwater and convert it to salrwater.

Depends what kind of saltwater tank you want a fish only, fish only with live rock, or reef. Also depends what you mean by whats it take. You talking specific equipment or money. If you choose reef tank the it also depends what type of corals you plan to keep. Softies, lps, and/or sps.

If you want to do saltwater, why set it up as freshwater? Sounds confusing...

more specifically, you'll have to start all over. Freshwater bacteria and saltwater bacteria are different, as well as the water chemistry.

Lights, skimmer, rock, sand, power heads, a sump preferably- if so you'll also need return pump PVC piping and MOST IMPORTANT THING IS PATIENCE!!!
