I am looking at a 130G SW tank. The left side of the tank has a very large overflow but houses two large 21" (carbon??) filters another media filter and has a built in protein skimmer. Is this enough for the tank to run without any external add ons? The tank has been setup for several years with no problems but I want to turn it into a reefsystem down the road. The guy Im talking to says he had quite a bit of coral in it but sold them about a year ago due to lack of time. The fish and the live rock all seem very healthy so it has to be doing something right.

All opinions welcome

Should be okay if the skimmer is a good one. With about 200-250 lbs of LR and a DSB you should have the proper filtration.
