adding carbon

Should I add carbon while cycling? or wait till after the cycle to remove any chemicals from conditioners or tapwater?

From what I've been told, you should run reef grade carbon for a week once a month...assuming this is a reef. As of during cycling, I wouldn't find it necessary but I don't think it would hurt anything.

Aqua Pure is a good grade carbon, though not labeled specific for reef. Use up what you have and on the next purchase look for Kent Marine. They make reef grade carbon. Being this is a new tank and you have no coral, it wouldn't really matter what brand or grade you use. The coral is what the reef grade is for. Something to do with the granulars.
