Now that my tank has been completely cyled (running 1 month) my lfs recommends using Prime as I prepare the water for my weelky PWC. Up until now I was using dechlorinator with the IO salt followed by 1-2 days of airation.

The lfs doesn't always give the best advice. What do you guys suggest?

Just remember that prime or dechlorinator does not get rid of heavy metals that come in tap water. RO/DI is the safe way to go. You can get them online for good prices.

I love prime... for fw at least it has always worked awesome for me. I know RO/DI is the best but if you have to dechlorinate id say prime is definitely the best and most economical. It even neutralizes ammonia, nitrite and nitrate that might be present in tapwater and converts it so that it can still be used by the biological cycle.
