Well, ya got water falling from above into a container below. There are things you can do to minimize it, but there will be some degree of noise more than a non-sump setup.

Think of the water flow sound as a critical part of your Feng Shui environment.

Feng Shui...I like that. I have been looking at the Durso standpipes. I think I could rig something up to work even though my drilled hole will not be at the bottom. Seems like they really help for noise.
