Over the last 2 days my 90 gallon salt water tank has had a brown algea sprout. The brown algea is all over the live rock, glass and sand.

I am using a Marine Glo and Florescent bulb. I have no fish in the tank yet as it has been cycling for a month.

Whats causing this algea growth? It doesn't look too pretty in the tank.

it sounds like diatoms (algae) to me. a normal cycle for the tank. it will clear up after a while, or after you add some cleaners such as snails, crabs, ect...

what kind of snails would i get to clean it all up? and how many?

if algea is growing is that a good sign that my tank is cycling well??
