I can someone please explain alkalinity to me. I bought a alkalinity buffer does this raise kH.

Ok so what are the main thinks I want to test for a reef tank.

I test for ammonia, nitrate, calcium, phosphates, magnesium and alkalinity.

What are the correct ranges for these?

0 for ammonia, nitrates & phosphates. I keep my calcium at about 450, mag at 1350 and dkh between 7-9, I'm still working on stabilizing that one. lol
