just checked the ammonia in my main and quarintine tank and thety are both at 1ppm. What should i do? is a 20% water change in each ok? In the main there are no fish. In the Qt I have 2 perculas.

If the main is cycling, just ride it out IMO. Especially if there are no animals in it.
for the qt tank, do daily water changes until the biofilter catches up. This is pretty normal for a qt. Also make sure to siphon out any uneaten foods immediately.
20% is OK, you could even do 25-30%.

What are you cycling your main tank with? I had a small amonia spike in my main tank when i added LR. I changed 10gal water, added a cocktail shrimp to the main tank, and the amonia went back down to 0 after two days.
