Ammonia spike, does it smell that bad?

GOSH...I was cleaning the rock today and the tank water smells REALLY BAD, (like a betta bowl that hasnt been cleaned in a month)...and I ran out of ammonia test stuff and cant make it to the store till tommorow at the earliest....but I was wondering if the takn water allway's smells so bad during an ammonia spike?

Mine didn`t smell that bad but I`ve heard others say there`s was horrible.

Oh jeez, yeah, it's bad. I was cycling a 2.7G on my office desk and for the first month I thought my coworkers were going to crucify me.
