While at my lfs today I picked up about 15 lbs of base rock. This stuff was in a cardboard box, dusty and dry to the bone. I want to add it to the 30 lbs of active live rock that I already have in my tank. My question is after I rinse all the dust and stuff from this rock will it try to cycle my tank or is it like putting any other atrificial object in the tank. I've been having pretty good luck with my tank the past several months and I don't want to screw up my water chemistry.

Cycling will only occur with dead stuff that decays. Base rock with nothing on it to die off won't effect any chemical levels in your tank.
