I would like to use the small ceramic cylinders as a biological filter in my QT. I've bought some and placed them in a small mesh bag in my DT sump. How long does it have to stay in there to be infused with the "good stuff"?

What do people use for filtration in their QT? I've pulled my charcoal filter due to HLLE on my yellow tang so I'm just wondering what else to use?

Thanks...Steve

In about 2 weeks the media should be pretty well populated with bacteria.

When I setup a QT, I use a HOB filter and filter media that's been sitting in my sump for a few weeks so it can get a nice bacteria population on/in it. I never used carbon in a QT, but do run it 100% of the time in my DT.
