Can someone tell me what this is and should I be worried about it? I'm going on the 4th day of my tank being cycled..

Sorry for the crappy picture.. My tank is still kinda cloudy.

Not sure what it is, it could be a sponge or some organic residue that's resolving over time. However, you really don't need to run lights in a cycling tank. It will just fuel algae growth.

If you're really worried about it, just take it out and use a clean brush of some sort to get it off.

I agree with mebbid. Probably decaying sponge or other dead organic matter.

Thank you! I don't have any lights for the tank right now either. I read somewhere I didn't need lights while
Cycling so I haven't bought them yet. I kinda thought the black stuff was just dying matter and would hopefully just go away lol.
