Brown algea

I have a brown algae growing in a new tank. Currently cycling with no fish but live rock. Should I step in or just let it run its course?

Run it's coarse. You are almost done. You can get cleaner shrimp. It will help out with some of the algae. That's what I did.

Thanks for that I'm also getting a growth of a cotton like consistancy on the live rock also small white flower type growths. Anything to worry about?

Any pictures. Where did you get your rock from. Was it clean.
