brownish algae on aquarium glass

as per above..when i do a pwc..can i remove the algae w a razor or magnetic brush? or i should just let it be n eventually itll clear up? sorry..a real noob here.
 
If your tank is just cycling, it is just diatomatic growth. Leave it, and it will turn green. Or, you can scrape it off if you'd like. Magna-Float rocks for pretty-ing up your glass.
 
Actually, if it is diatoms, it should go away almost over night. This is typical in new tanks, and is a great sign.
 
I agree that it will go away but their aint no reason you cant take it off. Mag float or scrapper will do.
 
I tend to scrape them off, just cause I want my tank looking pretty.
 
I am having an explosion of brown algae as well. My tank has been cycling for about a month now and the brown stuff has been getting worse for about a week. How long should it last? Will it dissapear overnight? I guess it is a good thing to see in a cycling tank, just wondering how long it will last and if it means I am almost done cycling.
