I recently read that there are certain brands of buffers (for raising pH) that might adversly affect phosphate levels.

Does anyone know which brands may increase phosphates?

Just look at the ingredients for anything that containts phosphate or phorphorus.

You shouldn't be using junk like that in a SW tank though. If you alkalinity is good, your pH will be good. If your pH is way too low, test alkalinity, and use a proper alkalinity buffer to raise pH. It's the pH increases that don't affect alkalinity that contain phosphates and get you in to trouble.
