I was wondering if I could get started without a heater and a protein skimmer. What I do have is the LS, salt mixture, hydrometer, and PC light. What my plan is was to get the water and sand in the tank, and then add the LR after I recieved the Protein skimmer, and the heater. IS this OK. Thanks for all you help.

What do you mean by "started"? Adding fish? What sized tank do you have? How's the water temperature now?

And as I have a tendency to do - I'll ask some questions that your answers might help someone else help you.

Fill it with tap water first to do a leak test.. then drain it back out.

I'd wait till you get the LR, because you want it to sit on the bottom of the tank. either that or build a PVC skeleton of some sort to hold it up and put THAT on the bottom
you can get started mixing water though. I'd fill the tank about 70%, add the right amount of salt mix, and put in a PH to mix it up. That way when the LR shows up, it will be ready to go in the tank
