Canister Filter Cleaning

my tank has been running for about a month now, has clean up crew and two fish (Chromes) How often should I be cleaning the filter?

Every week to be honest if not every 3 days

I don't have one but I have heard of people doing it once a week. I would say minimum of every two weeks. They can become nitrate factory's pretty quickly.

I clean my filter every saturday when doing my PWC. works pretty well for me.

so what do i clean it with, the old water from the tank or just rinse it from tap water from our Well (Well Water not city)

I guess you could use the old water, I don't see why that would be a bad idea. I just use RO water to rinse out the cannister and I give the filter media and filter pads a quick rinse as well.
