carbon filter

so i am still cycling my tank 1st week no fish. i changed the filter cartridge and somehow some of the carbon leaked through. now there is some black carbon floating on top of my water. do i need to do anything about it? does this normally happen when changing the cartridges?

You can just net it out. This happens sometimes when you change cartridges and don't rinse them real good , but no big deal.
