I've done that road trip before and it ain't pretty.

Did you get anything new for your tank? Do you check craigslist near you by the way? Might be able to find some cheap lights or other misc stuff

I have a mix of many different saltwater fish amongst my tanks, but I love my Tangs most of all.

Walmart sells those preset ones for $15. I use them in my 10g tanks.

It's just a matter of how much the temperature swings. A small heater like that will keep it at 78 as long as the temperature outside the tank doesnt get too low or way too high. My preset heaters work fine even with the air vent blowing on them in the kitchen.

thatd be an issue the tanks bewteen 5-10ft away from a window and about 3ft awat from a cealing airvent with summer comming i like to keep the window open and itl get breezy along with the ac on but come day itl be 70-75į and in winter the temps bewteen 70-85į temp fluctuates alot and theres gonna be no hood on this tank to keep out drafts
