Carl's 180 reef build

The friendliest place on the web for anyone with an interest in aquariums or fish keeping!

If the fish is small it should be ok but we aren't talking about the average fish here. Its just my preference for the 33 long over the 20 . I like the footprint better .

I don't have enough on the site nor do I know how to delete them on here. I'm on the iPhone app as well laptop is on the fritz

On your iPhone open safari and go to www.aquariumadvice.com and log in. Go to user cp and tap it. Then on the left hand side scroll down to miscellaneous, then tap attachments. It will bring up all your photos. You can delete them all or delete some. It's easy. It took me forever to figure it out!

I'd love to see more photos! I watched the video. Your aquarium looks great! I love the stand too!

Actually, if you tap that link in my previous post it should open automatically for you. At least it does for me on my iPhone.

Here's a pic I just moved the left side stack. Opened it up just a little bit to get more caves etc. I also blew off the rock I moved a lot settled on it.

Big snail!

If u look at the center tank pick you can see them before the bow chica bow wow gives a little size reference.

He's a tequila snail covered in coralline his shell at the bottom of the cone is about an inch and a half. And yes he's an algae machine. Between him and the turbo snail(which is huge too) I have no other need for snails except in the refug. They are vacuums they clean the glass so quick they move to the rock and will tip over 2lb pieces! Can't get a good shot with the actinics on.

Here's some daytime shots

I dropped one bulb the other day and broke it. I'm planning on replacing the retro with led but only 1 at a time for the moment. I'll start with the center one considering that's the broken bulb.

I would ultimately like to get the xr30s from ecotech but that's out of my price range for now.

So these are what I'm thinking in the mean time.

I'm pretty sure theyre the same as the ones mr x uses but dimmable.

Everything looks awesome - like the new scape!

As for the sun coral - you will have to target feed each individual polyp all the time to make sure it lives. You'll probably want to try to train it to open during the day. Otherwise it'll only open at night at starve. It's a non-photosynthetic coral, meaning it doesn't get food from the sun.

If you stay on it you can make them thrive. I have one in my tank. He opens up at every feeding. I just feed slow. Like over course of hour. One squirt in with time in between. Sun will open up after a few. From Time to time if fish snag all his food a lot I can move to refugium for re coupe.
