Cerith Eggs

Anyone had luck with their Cerith eggs hatching, and actually seen a difference in the looks of the eggs on the glass?

I've got several hundred white dots all over my glass and have had them there for a week, however the appearance of the dots has not changed and I have not seen any "free-swimming" pre-snailers, as described when I dug around for research on the Cerith eggs.

Wondering how long it takes for these things to hatch, and won't my fish gobble up the little swimmers unless I QT them... ?

Just wondering, thanks.

The larvae that hatch are nearly microscopic. The egg case will start to fall apart and that's the time when they'e hatching. It takes another month before you'll notice rice-sized snails in the sand. The baby Ceriths look a lot like Pyramid Snails so don't be alarmed.

Hmmm .... this doesn't sound like Cerith eggs to me. Some different snail egg pics from my own tank for reference...

Cerith:

Nerite:

Nassarius:

Strombus maculatus:

The only real "baby snails" I have ever seen in our tank is the Strombus.

HTH,

I'd say Nerite. As a matter of fact, that looks like a Nerite snail at the top of the pic.

They almost look like little feather dusters...

Thank you much. As it turns out I may have been the one who was mistaken when looking up the info on the type, not garf. That's why I screwed up and said cerith. I'm still not sure where i got that.

I think I breezed though it too fast.... much unlike a snail.

Your help is, as always, greatly appreciated.
