Hello reefers and DiY handy-people: my husband and I have a new tank we bought used. I am very green at saltwater and quickly realized that the tank is well beyond my ability to reconstruct, so I humbly turn to you for a build adventure!

My personal tanks include my FW 29 planted tank and a 2-3 month old 55 gallon FOWLR tank (no sump) I recently expanded into and have been enjoying very much!

So much so that my wonderful partner finally started to think I was having *too* much fun and started getting interested in the hobby as well. He has since built himself a pea puffer nano tank and has caught the bug that got me bad (yay)

Just like my 55-gal fell into my lap when I felt the MTS itch-- my partner Gabe decided he wanted corals and WHAM! 2 days later the ultimate set up went up for sale for crazy cheap!

How's this for a deal: $150 for a 29 acrylic with a 30g sump and stand, LEDs, 4 powerheads, new skimmerS, heater, a billion tubes, parts and "sumpy" supplies and all the accessories that a dedicated hobbiest collected for his reef

I have a dozen pics I'll organize to catalog this epic haul! I am only scratching the inventory surface here: new python waterchanger, three crates of fish foods, coral meds, additives and testing kits. The seller was pretty upset to let it all go but had to move ASAP, thank you Craig, you angel from San Francisco, your genius idea continues to bless me with bargains

I need some hardcore reefer experience to help me decipher this deconstructed tank that, when rebuilt, will mix my fish world with my domestic sphere, at last, my two loves shall combine!! ;)

By the way this spectra pure RODI unit is as yet unused, however I plan to order the refills either from BRS or the manufacturer depending on what other supplies I end up needing after I put what we have together for this project...

A pictorial review of my addiction up until this new addition:

How nice score everything looks to be in great condition too. Time to start plumbing and order some rock and sand!

Thanks!! I have half the alphabet left to catalog of odds and ends. He bought 45lbs of rock a month ago when a nice lfs nearby went out of business for $2 per lb!! I'm a sucker for a deal hehe so we make a good team ;)

This is the rock, in a tub in my kitchen since December 15th

Help please? Pretty please? Ill try any suggestions and retake pics when I hit a road block

Its pretty difficult to piece plumbing together from pictures. The large white tube most likely is from the return pump. My suggestion is to just start piecing it together and when you get stuck ask for specific help on that situation.

Okay, good point. We will give it a go and see where we end up

What differentiates a return pump vs powerheads? Air pumps I know are unrelated.
