Found a guy in the area who's 210gal crashed about a month ago and is ready to part with it all. His rocks are covered with aiptasia and something I've never seen before. If I was going to buy this tank and moving the stuff over from my 55gal how would I go about to make sure everything is gone?

I wish aiptasia wasn't harmful and intrusive. It looks kinda cool when it gets big. Lol

You can dry out the rock, or soak it in a strong peroxide mixture, or kill of the aptasia little by little. The first picture are just feather dusters. Reef safe.

After a big crash like that should I just dump all the current water or should I transport it?

it depends what you want to do with the rock. If you want to keep it and just kill aptasia as you see it, then use his water. If not, it doesn't matter. Big crash like what btw? What exactly happened?

He told me he had it for about a year FOWLR. Then he put in a couple hundred dolars of coral and the thing crashed about a month later. All fish died. Then it's been in its current state for a couple months. Currently it has crabs, snails, and a couple zoos but everything in the tank is a hideous green. He has been working a lot and just doesn't have the time to take care of it.

Not sure how well you can see the greenish tint to everything but here's a couple more pics
