cleaning a new tank

Whats the best way to clean a tank? The tank we bought has a light flim of old salt all over the inside and also on the wet/dry tank and all over everything else. Just wondering whats safe to use on the tank besides pain water?

I use salt water in my bathtub with a freshwater rinse. Never had a problem.
