Hello all,
I did some archiving trying to get some input on how to properly clean a well used freshwater 90 gal tank (and equipment). I can't really find any posts. What is the proper method for completely cleaning a freshwater tank and accesories in preparation for saltwater use ? I have just been given to me a georgeous 90 gal aquarium with 2 Fluval canister style filters. I am in no rush. I have had past intermediate experience with a 55 gal freshwater aquarium, but want a new challenge with a salt water tank. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,
Rich

Welcome to AA :D

Water, vinegar, and rinse are always safe. If it’s really bad you can use 10 parts water 1 part bleach. If using bleach rinse well, fill tank with water and add a strong dose of dechlorinator like Seachem Prime and let sit for a couple of hours and then drain, rinse and let sit dry for a week.

Do you know if the FW tank was ever treated with copper?
