I have nothing in the filter right now should I put something in it

My powerhead is rated at 400 gph is that not enough...

Now should I just get the manufacture pads like the one it comes with or some thing different

They should be fine actually, but in all honestly, if it were me, I would get a new filter. One that's rated at least for a 60 gallon. It would really help your flow.

My filter is moving around 200 gal per hour and when I have my powerhead on full it moved 400 gph but that tends to make tank more cloudy

Can I use old stuff from a freshwater tank... Fully cleaned with just water

I wouldnt, but maybe someone else will chime it. Go to the fish store and ask for a roll of poly pad I think it's called? It's blue on one side and white on the other. I ordered some from intank and got three rolls for like 8 bucks I think. Then you just cut to fit your filter.

Ok so I thoroughly clean the sponges and media and put them in the hob filter and the cloudiness has improved dramatically

All clear... Yay
