cloudy water

I just added water to my 55gal. and the water got all cloudy. I was wondering if this is bad or will it settle soon. If so how many days? Also is it good to run the skimmer and filter while the water is cloudy? Thanks!!!

it is probably going to settle down soon, if you didnt wash the gravel prior to adding water then its giong to be about a two to three days. Mostly its dust and undissovled salt. Dont worry, be happy!

Id leave the skimmer off till the dust settles. But run the filter. If you have a pre filter sponge, put it on and keep it clean to keep some of the silt out of your equip.
