Converting from a 29 gal to a 65 gal. The tank is going in the same place as the old tank. Does the new tank have to cycle first before putting in my fish, liverock, and corals? If so for how long?

I just recently did a upgrade from a 29 to a 55 I had no problems putting my fish in right away. Moving the sand and your LR may cause a mini-cycle. Like MR.X told me put your old water in the tank first then add your new RO water on top off that to fill the rest up. I experienced no cycle at all.

most of your live rock and sand would technically have already gon through its cycle and if its done fast enough there shouldn't really be any die off on them, so you'd get no ammonia spikes and still keep ann the bacteria and critters alive

When I converted a 20 up to a 55, I managed to move the live rock without it touching the air.
