I'm starting a new 40g reef and converting my 55 gal FW over to a LR/FO tank. I have estimated around 600+ for each to get going. So as soon as I pay off my new laptop i'm gonna save up for the new tanks!

I don't know about the 10 bucks per gallon, maybie this is cause I have a small tank, but just the lighting for my 10 gallon will be well over 100 dollars, throw in everything else and my setup should be 350, thats 35 bucks per gallon. Include the sump/refuge(DIY), and you got more along the lines of 40 bucks per gallon.
