Sep 18, 2003 #4 G Guest Guest Ammonia turns into Nitrite and Nitrite turns into Nitrate. Ammonia and Nitrite are the toxic compounds that need to be 0 before adding life to the tank... Nitrate should not go above 50 meg/L for FO, and that is high, and should not go above 20 meg/L for Reef.. 0 or undetectable is desired....
