I live on the water and can get bait shrimp cheaply....would one or 2 of these help cycle my 80 gal once i get it up and going?
(then I can take them and use them fishing LOL )

That seems to be the way to go. However I just cycled mine with only cured LR in 3 weeks. I haven't put any live fish in yet...later this week.
You need to give more info on your plans. FOWLR, reef, etc?

oh...yeah....reef for the most part....dont know how much coral i want just i plan to get ls and lr
not sure on the lighting at this point.
have a 29gal maxi reef wet/dry inwhich i will use lr rubble and i may use my 30gal as a refugium but not sure yet...depends on how much room i have
I plan to go out and wade and collect abunch of stuff out in the gulf about a mile off shore to start her out....sand and stuff :)
I have been waiting to do this for almost 15yrs and finally its slowly coming together

I don't think living inverts will work because they generally produce very little ammonia. The reason a dead shrimp works is because it produces ammonia as it decays.
