Ok this is going to be my first saltwater tank. I have a 55 cichlid tank. I cycled my 55 fishless. I used pure ammonia. Took six weeks and I was able to fully stock my tank all at once. 15 small fish. Never had any water quality issues. Read how to do it on the internet. Worked great. Will it work for saltwater the same way.

No .
I wouldn't suggest you stock everything at the same time .
Salt water is a lot different , totally different bacteria converting ammonia , nitrite and nitrate .
To cycle dosing with pure ammonia requires constant testing .
I personally think it's easier to cycle with raw shrimp .
Drop it in and leave it .

Thanks. Not going to use shrimp though. Using ammonia was pretty easy. Did use quite a bit of my api test kit though.

You will need live rock or base rock to cycle your tank with as well. That's where most of the bacteria live.

I have a 100 lbs of dry rock. Doing my aquascaping now. Still waiting on my sump to come in. Might start cycling the rock in a rubbermaid.

You got all the goodies lol. I see a vortech mp something and are those ai lights?

Yea mp40. 2 hydras. Tunze ato. 2brs dosing pumps. Neptune controller should be in today. I got a lifereef sump/refug on order won't be in till march though. Costing me an arm and a leg. But I figured I try and do it right the first time. Last tank went cheap in the begining and had to buy everything over again. Sometimes its cheaper to spend more in the first place.

Haha yeah definitely. Very nice stuff, wish I could afford half of it haha. Reefing on a budget over here :(

I had a budget too. I'm still sticking with it as far as the wife knows. If she found out how much I spent. My dog house would have an in wall reef tank. LOL

No no they misprinted that decimal point. The vortech mp40 was 48.50 not 485.00. Lol

If u see in the pic I got a jaebo 25 also cost me 90 bucks told her the mp 40 cost the same.
