Cycling tank using a prawn

Can I cycle my tank using a prawn. The ones I have are raw prawns and quite small. How many should I put in?

you already have live rock? i would put 2-3 prawns in the tank and near the powerheads so that the current will carry the ammonia from the dead prawn throughout the tank. some also suggest using fish food like mysis shrimp or flakes to cycle a tank. but either method requires you to monitor the ammonia level in the tank at least once every few days if not everyday.
