Hi Guys.. My Rock has been cycling for 2 1/2 weeks now and the Ammonia went to 0 a couple days ago, the nitrites are still off the charts, and Brown Diatom algea and little bubbles everywhere!! How long does it usually take for the Nitrites to calm down so I can put a cleanup crew in there???
Thanks,
Dan

Nitrites usually take longer to subside, upto a few weeks easily. At 2½ weeks, you still have a week or two to go. It really depends on the amount of die off there is from the rock and any steps you may or may not have taken to reduce the die off (Skimmer, water changes,... etc.)

Algaes are not really a big concern in a newly set up tank. Most crash on there own quickly enough depending on source water used.

Cheers
Steve
