Hi I would like to ask regarding this Diatom Problem. :(

I have a 3 1/2 month old 75 gallons saltwater aquarium, Just last month Diatoms started to develop once more and like I said its been a month though it looks like its lessening every two days after stirring up the sand diatoms just grow back! :x I have reduced my lighting hours from 12 to 8 hours. Any advice on what I should do or should I continue to wait it out? :?:

Also because of this I have not added any addtional livestock.

I currently have:

1 Four Spotted Wrasse
3 Hermit Crabs
5 Turbo Snails

Thanks.

I have around 70 lbs of LR
4 inch aragonite sand bed
3 40 watts Actinic Blue Light
3 36 watts Marine glow white
I have a 15 gallon sump which holds my protein skimmer

Ammonia: 0
Nitrite: 0
Nitrate: 10-20
Temp: 80 F

Please help, Thanks Again.

You add a lawnmover blennie and they will eat a lot of the diatoms. Your nitrate is definitly a reason why they are getting out of hand. You might want to buy some macro algea to out compete the diatoms for food.
