Do i need a protein skimmer?

I have a 75gal aquarium that has been running for a week...my goal is a reef tank...I have a sum pump system, 2 koralia power heads, and a cartridge filter filled with live rock is being added today...do I absolutely need a protein skimmer????

If you are gonna go reef then I would say yes, it would be needed. Aim to get one rated for twice the water volume you have and you will be set.

+1, reefs definitely need a protein skimmer to help keep it healthy

You don't absolutely need one but then you'll be doing a whole lot more wc so really its just there to save you time and money...you never wanna skimp on your reef you'll regret it later down the line

Get one I did a tank without and u can just feel the water getting dirty in ur bones

Also just cuz u may get a skimmer doesn't mean u want to skimp on ur changes

Thanks I did get one I appreciate the input...I got a "hang on back" due to limited space underneath the aquarium itself...
