I would run a small skimmer, especially if you are going to keep corals, but really either way. Will really help water quality, especially in a tank that small! UV would not be a necessity, but a XP3 with a valve to control flow, a skimmer, and a good PWC schedule should keep you going very well!

hmmmm, never used one on that small a tank.

Are you going to do a small reef or FO? If you are going to use one, I would use maybe a Prizm, bigalsonline.com had them on sale for $72. Several companies make Nano skimmers, (Rio and the Fission by Current), however, I have never heard anything on those, maybe someone on here is using one and can lend some advice.

IME a skimmer is not needed for a 10g by any means nor is a UV.

Change 5 gallons of water every week or two and that will keep waste down.

IMO and IME a skimmer isnt needed on a 20 gallon or below. Weekly 25% pwc will do it all. And a UV isn't neccessary for any size tank.

This would be my thinking also. Frequent PWC`s will do just as much.
