Hi, my new dwarf lionfish is doing just great. He is eagerly eating frozen brineshrimp. I would like to know what other frozen foods should he have in his diet to be complete?
Brine shrimp have almost zero nutritional value. Be sure you are soaking them in a good supplement before feeding. (zoe, selcon, etc)
I would suggest getting a feeding rod and begin feeding him things that are more substantial. Raw cut up shrimp is great and can be frozen and thawed as needed. Silversides and krill are another great food that comes frozen and easy to feed. Good luck with him. Fuzzy's are in my experience very hardy and eager to try new things.
Thanks for the info. I have been offering krill but it is not sure of the stick yet. I would like to know what makes brineshrimp so bad?
Would mysis shrimp be the same nutritional value?
Brine are not bad. Fish love the taste they just do not have much nutrition to them. Mysis shrimp do have good nutritional value. One good thing about brine is they absorb vitamins much better than mysis. Alternate foods and it will do great.
The stripes on the fins.... Females have 4-6 large stripes & males have 6-10 large stripes. I will try to post a picture of my male so you can see the difference in stripes......... Adult males have wider heads & longer pectoral fins....
