There is one sure way to tell if your tank cycled. If you can get a source of ammonia and bring it up to 3.0-4.0 and the next day it's back at zero, then your good

what could i use other than chemicals because i dont have any
What bout a shrimp?
 
You could try a shrimp I'm just not sure how long it will take for the shrimp to decay enough to form ammonia. What about pure ammonia?
